Obituary For Mrs. Marian Carter Barker

Barker, Mrs. Marian Carter, a resident of Lanett, AL died Thursday, October 1, 2020 at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, AL.

Graveside Services are scheduled for Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. (EST) at Fairview Cemetery, Valley, AL with Dr. Lamar Johnson officiating and Dr. Jonathon Carter as Eulogist. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley directing.

There will be no public viewing.

Daughter of the late Rev. Brady C. Carter, Jr. and Mrs. Mozella Harris Carter and widow of the late Wilie Frank Barker, Mrs. Barker was a 1964 graduate of Rehobeth High School in Fairfax (now Valley), AL. She often visited the nursing homes to offer prayers and love to many nursing home patrons. She always had a smile and kind words for anyone. Cake baking was a passion of hers.

Her survivors include: three daughters, Jennifer (Dennis) Quarles, Jacqueline Jones and Cassandra McCarden; one son, Anthony Barker; nine grandchildren--two she reared as her own, Antonio Presley and Harmonee Jones; eight great-grandchildren; two nephews she reared as her own, Dr. Jonathon (Sylvia) Carter and Rev. Larry (Ruby) Carter; one sister, Willie Lou Carter; one special sister-in-law, Mary Carter; one brother-in-law, Benjamin Bennett; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Aunt Marian is and will forever be a wonderful and delightful Woman of God. She would do just about anything for you and loved everyone. I never forgot her kind hearted spirit and how she would bring so much joy into every room. She also made very nice embroiled towels. She will be greatly missed.
