Funeral service will be Saturday, August 29th, 2020 at 12 PM, at the Chapel, of Progressive Funeral Home.
Bruce A. Reed, Sr. died peacefully at St. Francis Hospital on Thursday, August 20, 2020 in Columbus, GA. He was born on September 30, 1954 in Mt. Vernon, AL to the late Wilmer and Lillie Mae Reed.
Bruce graduated from Citronelle High School in 1973. He was a graduate of Troy University with a Business Management degree. He also received a Small Appliance and Carpentry diploma from Columbus Technical College.
Bruce entered the Military and served 24 years in the United States Army, where he received many commendations and retired with an E-8 Master Sergeant Rank. He also retired from the United States Postal Service after 18 years.
Bruce hobbies included, traveling with his wife, family and friends, shopping at Lowe's, Home Depot and QVC was his pleasure. Last but not least, he loved working on his old red truck, diving in his pool after working in his garden. At the end of the day he would relax in his climate controlled sunroom or recline in his chair to look at westerns until he fell asleep.
Bruce, affectionately called "Bae" by his wife, Rose. Bruce and Rose were high school sweethearts and were married for almost 47 wonderful years
Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Rose; three devoted children, Cleo and Narada Reed both of Columbus, GA and Bruce Reed, Jr. (Mary) or Tucson, AZ; three grandchildren, Shan McKenzie of South Korea, Xye and Brook Reed of Tucson, AZ; two great-grandchildren, McKenzie Rose and Jason Williams, of Tucson, AZ; one brother, Perry L. Molten, Jr. (Lucille) of Leakesville, MS; two sisters, Evelyn Reed of Mt. Vernon, AL and Brenda Reed of Columbus, GA; four brothers-in-law, Melvin and Maurice Williams, Mobile, AL, Michael Williams of CA and George Jackson, Jr. of Mt. Vernon, AL; three sisters-in-law, Cynthia McKenzie (Christopher) Mobile, AL, Denise Griffin (Ervin) of Calvert, AL and Margie Reed of Syracuse, NY and a host of other relatives , nieces, nephews and friends.
