Obituary For Velta Bass

Mrs. Velta Bass 85, of Lanett, Alabama died Tuesday July 14, 2020 at her residence.

Mrs. Bass was born in Grobina, Latvia September 21, 1934 to the late Mikelis Buivids and the late Lidja Lueck Buivids she was a member of the Jackson Memorial Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Graveside services will be held Friday July 17, 2020 at 10AM (CT) at the LaFayette City Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Howard officiating.

Mrs. Bass is survived by her 4 Children Martha Bass of Lanett, Al., Ruth Bass of Lanett, Al., Daniel (Andrea) Bass of Lanett, Al., Andrew Bass of Lanett, Al., Step Son Michael (Judy) Bass of Lanett, Al., Brother Victor (Christine) Buivids of Jacksons Gap, Al., Grandson Joel Bass of Lanett, Al., Granddaughter Amy (John) Crouch of Hartselle, Al.

Mom loved her children very much. They were her world. She had a very harsh young childhood during WWII having to spend some years in a german camp. She did not like to talk about her life before America. She was very proud to have become a citizen and the thick foreign accent that I remember as a child was totally gone in time. She was a great mother.
