Ernest Marvin Mills, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 8th, 2020 in West Point, GA.

Born on July 21, 1938 in Cordele, Ga to the late Ernest Mills and the late Willie Lee Batson Mills. He is survived by his loving wife Linda of 59 years, his children Rusty Mills (Carmella Brown) of Plant City, Florida, Susan Cape (Jody) of West Point, Georgia, and Shannon DeBeer (David) of LaGrange, Kentucky; Grandchildren Abigail Barker, Amaya Barker, Jacob Barker, Megan Barker (John) ,Jessica Mayer (Bradly), Payton Debeer, and Alex DeBeer; Great grandchildren Emily Mayer, Maddy Mayer, William Mayer, Brooke Bess, and Luke Bess, and His loving dog Gabe who was at his side until the end.

Marvin served in the National Guard until beginning a lifelong career in the restaurant industry. Before retiring home to southern Georgia, he spent the last 18 years of his career as an Operational Partner with Papa Johns, Inc. in Jacksonville, Florida. Marvin was respected and beloved by all that met him for his wit, kindness and easy-going nature. He had a passion for softball and played competitively as a pitcher with a mean knuckle ball and 3rd basemen until his mid-70’s. Whether coaching or playing he could often be heard saying “Let’s get 20” as he entered the dugout for his team’s turn at bat. He had many roles over the years from father, to coach and most of all a friend to whomever he met. The only passion equal to his love for the game was the love for his family. He cherished his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his sister Nita who passed just a few weeks after him. They are surely having a wonderful reunion in Heaven. His loss to his family is immense, but his impact on this earth with carry on through the many generations that he nurtured. Until we see him again in Heaven we know for now that he is “Safe at Home”.

Due to current restrictions, a private memorial service will be held at West Point United Methodist Church. Reverend Erik Mays will officiate.
