Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mr. Napoleon Penn, 84, of Union Springs ,Alabama.
Mr. Penn completed his earthly tenure, Friday, April 24,, 2020 in Montgomery, Alabama .
Services Celebrating his legacy will be held Saturday, May 2, 2020 at 12 noon noon from Wesley Garden Cemetery in the Cornestone Community.
The message of comfort will be delivered by Pastor Bruce Surratt of the Cornerstone AME Zion Church.
Mr. Penn will lie in repose at the Cornestone AME Zion Church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.
Public visitation will be held Friday, May 1, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
All visitations and services will be conducted exercising appropriate social distancing protocols.
A CELEBRATED LIFE Brother Napoleon Penn was born April 16, 1936 in Union Springs, Alabama to the late James Henderson Penn and Jeff Anna Moultrie Penn. FAITH Napoleon confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of Cornerstone A.M.E. Zion Church where he served as a faithful member. He loved praising God and served Cornerstone in several positions, including Church Stewart and Choir President. Known for his talented voice, Napoleon was a member of several gospel groups including the Southern Travelers and All Stars Gospel Singers. He was also a member of the Bethel Lodge 123, F. & A.M.
NAPOLEON REMEMBERED Napoleon worked as a logger for many years. He also worked as a Bus Driver for the Bullock County Board of Education. He was also employed by Diversified Products Manufacturing in Opelika, Alabama. His favorite sports were baseball and softball. Napoleon was a first baseman for the Cornerstone Tigers.
FAMILY Napoleon was united in holy matrimony to the late Willie Ann Dotson. He was also preceded in death by: two sons, James Curtis Penn and Nathaniel Penn; a sister, Olinza Wright; a brother, James Wesley Penn; and a step-mom, Eva Lou Penn. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving children, Lillie Pugh of Arizona, Charles (Nancy) Penn of Rhode Island, Patricia Penn of New Jersey, Phyllis (Maurice) Johnson, Audrey (Maurice) Allen, all of Montgomery, Alabama, Vanessa Jackson of Pine Level, Alabama, Eric Penn and Theresa Penn, both of Union Springs, Alabama; four brothers: Rev. Martis (Mozell) Penn, Lawrence (Jessie) Penn, all of Union Springs, Alabama, Joe (Brenda) Penn of Montgomery, Alabama and William (Donna) Penn of South Carolina; three sisters: Ruth (Jake) McBride of Montgomery, Alabama, Dorothy Penn of Prattville, Alabama and Mae Nella Jenkins of Union Springs, Alabama; three brothersin-law: Pete (Hattie) Dotson, Farris Dotson and Rufus Dotson; five sisters-in-law: Juanita Penn, Hattie Smith, Cora (James) Boswell, Sadie Dotson and Ree Nelson; a special friend, Lorine Christian, thirteen grandchildren, a numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
