Obituary For Mr. Roger Booker, Sr.

Mr. Harold Roger Booker, Sr., a resident of Lanett, AL, died Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at his residence.

Graveside Services are scheduled for Friday, March 20, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. from Pine Hill Cemetery, Lanett, AL with Pastor Michael Stiggers, Sr. officiating.

Public Viewing is scheduled for Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. from Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.

Mr. Harold Roger Booker, Sr. was born June 8, 1942 in Fairfax (now Valley), Alabama to the parentage of David “Bubba” and Mollie Mitchell Booker. Harold departed this life to be with God in everlasting peace and eternal rest on March 11, 2020 at his residence.

Harold accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age and was baptized at Rehoboth Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend B. O. Phillips.

He grew up in the Shawmut Community on “Booker Hill” and graduated from Rehobeth High School in 1963. After graduation, he was employed by West Point Pepperell before re-locating to Atlanta, Georgia. There he pursued work in the construction industry, finding his passion and becoming a professional painter—a career he enjoyed until his retirement.

Harold was joined in holy matrimony to the former Willie Jeffie Trammell. To this union a son and two daughters were born. In 2009, he moved back to his hometown to live with his sister, until her death.

Harold was preceded in death by: his parents; a son, Cordell Montez Ingram; an infant daughter, Lorraine Booker; two brothers, John Hicks and Marvin David “Shorty” Booker; his sister, JoAnn Booker; and, an infant grandson, Martel Booker.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted son and daughter, Harold Roger “Pee Wee” Booker, Jr. and Pamela Booker (Boris) Reed both of Lanett, AL and son, Jermaine Booker, Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren, Hakeem Booker of Hawaii, Germela Ferguson and Layah Ferguson both of Lanett, AL, Ashley Ferguson, Montgomery, AL, Boris Reed, Jr. and Martineo Booker bothof Lanett, AL; one aunt, Dorothy Mitchell Moore, Valley, AL; nieces, Barbara Hicks Barber, Lanett, AL; Carolyn Hicks Anderson, Toledo, OH, Phyllis Hicks Jones, Stone Mountain, GA, Annie L. Hicks (Rev. Willie) Wimberly, Valley, AL, Bridget Booker, Destin Brooks and Phyllis Booker all of Detroit, MI; nephews, Ronnie Hicks, Chicago, IL, John Hicks, Cleveland, OH, Jermaine Booker, Atlanta, GA, Marlon David Booker, Detroit, MI; and, a host of cousins, other relatives, friends and the Lanett Housing Authority Community.
