Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 2:00 pm from the sanctuary of the New Mt. Silla Missionary Baptist Church of the Comer Community., Rev. James Person, pastor.
Interment will follow in the New Mt. Silla Baptist Cemetery.
Mr. Ford will lie in repose at the Church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.
Public visitation will be held Friday, January 31, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
Mr. William Benford Ford was born on July 14, 1958 to the late Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Ford-Kent and Arthur Kent Jr. In Huntsville, Al. He attended Tuskegee Institute High School.
He confessed hope in Christ at St. Rebecca Primitive Baptist Church at an early age under the late pastor Joe Pendelton. Later in life, He joined New Mt. Silla Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. James E. Person where he attended faithfully until death.
In 1970, He relocated with his family in Tuskegee, Al where he resided for many of years until 1988 when he met his wife ( Ethel L. Bowens(ford)) and they united in marriage in 1988 and he moved to Midway, Al and lived 31 years with his wife and family.
Mr. Ford worked for 17 years at TNS Mills of Eufaula, Al, 5 years at Keystone Foods of Bakerhill, Al, and 5 years at Wayne Farms of Union Springs, Al until his health failed.
He departed his life January 24, 2020 at Bullock County Hospital. He is preceded in death by his mother (Mary Elizabeth Kent), His Father (Arthur Kent Jr), His sister (Jessie R. Parker), and his two brothers (John Lee Ford and Bobby Ford), and son ( Mackey V. Bowens).
His memory will be forever cherished by his devoted wife: Ethel L. Ford ( Midway, Al); Daughter: Karen S. Bowens ( Union Springs, Al); Son: Darwin (Belinda) Bowens ( Mobile, Al); Special Granddaughters: Ja’lani Bowens ( Union Springs, Al) and Kimberly Bowens ( Mobile, Al); Special Grandson: Michael Arnett-Bowens ( Mobile, Al); One brother, Theoplis Ford, (Huntsville, Alabama); Five Sisters: Dorthy(B.J.) Latham, Marilyn ( Dwight) Sparks, Alfreda Davis, Deborah Battle ( All of Huntsville, Al); and Paula (Tim) Love ( Houston, Tx). Four Sister In-Laws: Ozie B. Bowens and Arttie B Grooms (Midway, Al), Julia ( Ernest) Bowens- Simpson ( Chicago, IL), and Annie B Marshall ( Hayne city, Fl).Five Brother In-Laws: Louis Bowens(Tuskegee, Al), Joseph Smith ( Hayne City, Fl), Roosevelt ( Joann) Miles ( Atlanta, GA), Eddie Lee ( Dorthy) Miles ( Atlanta, GA), A.C. ( Clara) Miles ( Chicago, IL), and One Aunt: Sara Bell. He was also loved by a host of friends and family. Very Special Friends that he loved dearly : Vanessa ( Joe) Lee ( Tuskegee, Al), Glenda Parham, Carolyn Goshea, Zeke Holmes, Henry Ellison, Willie Boykins ( Midway, Al), and Malinda Mayo ( Clayton, Al)
