Mr. Robert Burton, 90 of Alexander City, Alabama peacefully transitioned home Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Russell Medical.

Funeral Service for Mr. Robert James Burton will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 6, 2020 at Wright’s Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in Armour’s Memorial Garden.

The Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 5, 2020 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.

Robert James Burton, 90, was born November 29, 1929, to Lohaza Leonard Burton and Allie Burton in Tallapoosa County, Alabama.

At an early age, Robert confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with the Church of God in Alexander City, Alabama.

Robert enjoyed life to its fullest. Many days, he could be found fishing on the banks of the rivers or ponds. He was an avid Atlanta Braves and Alabama fan. He was an excellent listener, but he would always follow up with some good advice. Most of all, he loved his family and having big family gatherings.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his soulmate of 57 years, Willie Lee Peavy Burton; brothers, John Burton and Dick Burton; and sisters, Hazel Burton and Mollie Burton.

Robert peacefully transitioned home on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at Russell Medical, surrounded by the love of his family.

Robert’s legacy will live on and be cherished by: his three loving and devoted children, Robbie (David) Sneed of Oxford, NC, Anita Vaughn of Opelika, AL, and Steve Burton of Deedville, AL; seven grandchildren, Tanbya Jackson, Leighann Wimberly, Dalea Sneed, David Sneed, Samantha Edwards, and Journe Wimberly; one brother, Allie Burton, and one sister, Julia Pointdexter, both of Chicago, IL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and two loyal visitor/cousins, Dr. Runas Powell and his son, Coley Powell.
