Obituary For Mrs. Theresa Jackson

Mrs. Theresa Jackson, a resident of LaGrange, GA, died Saturday, December 28, 2019 at her residence.

Theresa “Tess” Thomas Jackson was born September 16, 1934 to Richard and Annie Hatch Thomas in New Bern, North Carolina. Theresa graduated from JT Barber High School in Craven County, New Bern, North Carolina. Theresa was a well-disciplined young woman and displayed strong Catholic Faith at Saint Paul Catholic Church in New Bern. At the sweet and wonderous age of 19, she met and married her beloved husband (belated) Sgt Harold James Jackson, Sr. (USMC) on June 9, 1954. After learning of an irreversible illness, Sgt Jackson pleaded with Theresa to move from Camp Le June, North Carolina to Gary, Indiana where he was born and raised so that his sisters Dorothy Garner Gaskin and Martha Sago along with other family members could help with their nine children as she traveled frequently to be by her husband side during his illness and care at Great Lakes Hospital located in Northern Chicago, Illinois. Theresa “Tess” proved herself to be a virtuous wife, excellent mother and homemaker of 10 children (five daughters and five sons).

Theresa was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harold James Sr, four sons, Ronald, Tony Eugene, Tyrone Andre Sr, Harold James Jr and one daughter Lartha Jean.

Theresa Jackson departed this life at her home in LaGrange, Georgia on Saturday December 28, 2019.

Her memories will be cherished by four daughters, Paula Diann (Earl T.) Williams, Brenda Louise Jackson, Royce Renee (Edward) Carter and Michelene Persle’ (Samuel) Elmore and one son, Terrence Pierre (Kimberly) Jackson; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Gaskin; and, a host of nieces, nephews, grand/great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
